"Future Develops With Science and Science With Man "
At Sanko Private Schools, Directorate of Measurement and Evaluation keeps up with the changes in education, particularly in the field of measurement and evaluation, adapts them to our school and puts them into action. It conducts traditional and alternative assessment studies according to the needs of the class levels. It reflects the changes in the national exams to our school in the shortest time. It implements its studies “correctly” and “fast”, gives feedback to the teachers, students and parents directly and/or through the school management system and presents reports to the management.
Its activities are presented below according to the school levels.
1. Student Monitoring System
Under the coordination of our school measurement and evaluation unit, the measurement studies (observation and observation forms, anecdote registration forms, check lists, etc.) going on throughout the year helps analyze the students’ development in the best way. So, data are collected about what the students know, how they understand better, what they can do, which of their needs are satisfied and their interests. Then, their progress is evaluated by a committee.
2. Portfolio
At Sanko Primary School, the students keep their selected products in their portfolios. They, present these sections of activities (experiments, songs, dramas, etc.) to their parents. Going over their portfolios, the children become more aware of themselves and feel proud of what they do. Their self-confidence and self-esteem go up in the process in which they have self-assessment. They learn more about their capacities. Effective studies encourage and motivate them. Their learning styles become more obvious.
3. Reading Assessment
At Sanko Primary School, the students’ reading capacities are assessed according to the criteria determined based on the literature review and teachers’ experiences. The criteria vary at every grade level. The results and analyses are evaluated in a meeting held by the administrators, the director of measurement and evaluation, teachers and the counsellor.
